About “About:Config”
Firefox’s settings are stored in a long list of keys and values somewhat similar to the Window’s Registry. To access this list, simply type in “about:config” (without quotes, with colon) into Firefox’s address bar and press enter.
Speed Up Firefox (for Broadband Users)
- Type about:config into Firefox’s address bar and press enter.
- Copy and paste network.http.pipelining into the Filter bar.
- Set network.http.pipelining to “true”.
- Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 8.
- Right click on a blank area in about:config, point to New, and then click Integer. Name the integer nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set it’s value to 0.
Add Close Buttons To All Tabs
- Type about:config into Firefox’s address bar and press enter.
- Copy and paste browser.tabs.closeButtons into the Filter bar.
- Change it’s value to 3.
Open More Tabs Without Activating Tab Scrolling
- Type about:config into Firefox’s address bar and press enter.
- Copy and paste browser.tabs.tabMinWidth into the Filter bar.
- Change it’s value to 0.
